Born in 1944 in the Netherlands, Jan Van Wieringen arrived in Australia from Indonesia as a child in the 1950s and after schooling, studied at the National Art School in Sydney. An abstract impressionist painter he held his first exhibition in 1961 and since then he has exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney, Los Angeles, Chicago and Jakarta. He lives between Bali and Australia.
