Born in Italy in 1919, Pio Carlone studied at the Bari Art Institute in 1961, the Florence Academy Arts from 1962 to 1966 and travelled and worked in Europe in 1968-69 before arriving in Australia in 1976. A landscape, seascape and figural artist working in oil, watercolour, charcoal and acrylic, he exhibited in Sydney in the 1970s and 80s and also in Europe and the USA.
We have records of art auction sales by Pio Carlone from 1981 and in total 32 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 23 (72%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,400 for View sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in March 2006. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
