Born in England in 1964, Daryl Austin came to Australia and settled in Adelaide. During the late 1980s he worked for the South Australian Museum and was a member of the South Australian Workshop. In 1992 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the South Australian College of Advanced Education. Austin has won the Kernewek Lowender Art Prize (1993), Emerging Visual Artist (EVA) Award, Adelaide (1995) and Santos Whyalla Art Award (1998). Austin was included in the 2nd Adelaide Biennial at the Art Gallery of South Australia in 1992, Moet and Chandon touring exhibition in 1993, Salon de Refuses, S. H Ervin Gallery in 1999 and the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, 2000. (Courtesy of Stella Downer.)
