Born in Ireland in 1922 Tate Adams studied at the Central School of Arts in London. He arrived in Australia in 1951 establishing himself as a lecturer, painter and graphic artist.
We have records of art auction sales by Tate Adams from 1975 and in total 26 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 17 (65%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,227 for Fishing Village 1954 sold by Leonard Joel in November 2021. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021. Works by Tate Adams are held by the National Gallery of Australia, Geelong Gallery and a further six major public national galleries (see list below).
