Born in Gisborne, New Zealand in 1938, Jonathan White studied at Kings College, London and developed an interest in botany and art. He is known for his wilderness landscape and botanical paintings of the New Zealand mountain regions. He has also travelled and worked in Australia, Antarctica and India. Jonathan White received the member of the New Zealand order of merit in the Queens Birthday Honours list (MNZM) for services to the Arts and Commumity in 2011.
