Born in Queensland in 1928, Roggenkamp studied at Brisbane Technical College and privately with Percy Hobday and Jon Molvig. Painting in oils and watercolour, she mostly paints landscapes and seascapes. In 1945 she was a member of the Miya Studio, a group of young Brisbane artists. She has exhibited in most Australian capital cities since 1958 and won several major prizes, including the Trustees' Watercolour Prize awarded by the Art Gallery of NSW in 1962.
We have records of art auction sales by Joy Roggenkamp from 1969 and in total 24 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 16 (67%) were sold. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
