Born in New South Wales in 1927, Francis James (Bob) Booth is a mostly self- taught marine artist. He worked as a graphic designer with Readers Digest, John Sands Publishing and Arnotts Biscuits. Both Bob Booths and D'arcy Doyles Australiana oil paintings can be found on Arnotts biscuit tins of times past. His specialty was marine subjects, but he also painted African landscapes, lions and elephants. He exhibited in Mozambique, Rhodesia, South Africa, Noumea, New Guinea and Sydney. Bob Booth passed away in Bundeena NSW in 2003.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,180 for 'Outside Sydney Heads - British Whaler 'Samuel Enderby' and Fishermen, 1860' sold by Davidson Auctions in September 2016.
