Kathryn Ryan was born Warrnambool Victoria in 1965. During 1984-86 she studied for a Bachelor of Fine Art, Painting, at Deakin University and in 1989 was awarded an Honors Degree in Fine Art from RMIT. She has been practicing as a professional artist for approximately 26 years, working predominantly as a landscape painter in oil on linen. She has been a finalist in many prestigious art prizes including The Wynne Prize at Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Fleurieu Art Prize, The Geelong Contemporary Art Prize, John Leslie Art Prize,Tattersall's Art Prize, The Alice Prize and many others. In 2015 Kathryn Ryan's career to date was celebrated with a major retrospective exhibition held in her hometown at Warrnambool Art Gallery. She lives and works between Australia, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
