About Maringka Baker
Maringka Baker is an Indigenous Australian artist from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia. She was born in the early 1950s and grew up in the remote communities of Kanpi and Amata. Baker is known for her bold and vibrant paintings that depict the stories and traditions of the Anangu people. Her works often feature intricate designs and patterns, inspired by the natural world and the cultural practices of her community. Baker began painting in the 1990s and has since become one of the most celebrated Indigenous artists in Australia.
