Born in New South Wales in 1941, Cox studied in Sydney from 1960 to 1962. He spent eight years painting in Tasmania and held the first of several Tasmanian exhibitons in Launceston in 1967. He has also exhibited in Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle. A landscape painter he has won several awards including the 1964 Namatjira Memorial Prize.
