Born in Wellington in 1916, George Packwood studied privately with Dorothy Richmond and Stewart MacLennan. A painter, teacher and arts administrator, he was a curator at the National Gallery and founding member of the Lower Hutt Art Society. He also taught life classes with the Wellington Art club.
