Born in 1873, Naylor Gill was painting at the beginning of the 20th century, exhibiting with the Victorian Artists Society and held his first solo exhibition in 1913. He was a prolific painter of bush life, and is particularly remembered for his paintings of bushfires and goldfields scenes.
