Born in New Zealand in 1885, Edith Collier studied at Wanganui Technical College and at St John's School of Art in 1913 and Slade School, London about 1919. She returned to Wanganui in 1922. However after unfavourable criticism of her modernist style she rarely painted again.
The total number of works by Edith Collier offered for sale by auction since 1997 is 41, of which 38 (93%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $10,092 for St Ives c. 1920 sold by Dunbar Sloane in April 2000. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021. Works by Edith Collier are held by the Museum Of New Zealand.
