Born in 1921, Benjamin Landara was member of the Arunta tribe and was schooled at the Hermannsburg Lutheran Mission West of Alice Springs. He married into the family of Albert Namatjira and started painting in the late 1940s. Albert Namatjira influenced much of his work and Landara was a member of the first generation of Hermannsburg artists.

Benjamin Landara is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1974 of 495, of which 386 (78%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,700 for Untitled sold by Deutscher and Hackett in February 2024. This year one work has been offered for sale.
