Born in Japan in 1946, Mitsuo Shoji studied painting, sculpture and ceramics in Japan before accepting a teaching post in Melbourne in 1973. He has since held lectures and workshops in the UK, Europe, New Zealand and USA. Shoji has exhibited widely, and his work is represented in regional and institutional collections in Australia and overseas. For 30 years he was a Ceramics Lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts and retired in 2007 and he now works from a studio in Ryde, Sydney.
