A portraitist and artist of mythological subjects, Albert Enes was born in 1876 and became a student of the influential Melbourne Art School conducted by E. P. Fox and T. St. George Tucker. Enes exhibited with the Victorian Artists' Society from 1904 to 1916, where in one year his work "Pan" caused a sensation. He had a rare sense of colour and composition, his work being treated in an individual decorative way. Enes worked for many years with the 'Sydney Morning Herald'.

The earliest auction listing we have for Albert Enes is in 1967 and in total 14 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 5 (36%) were sold. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2012. Works by Albert Enes are held by the Geelong Gallery.
