Born in 1920, George Luke studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and at the Melbourne Technical College. He became known as a sculptor and was included in the prestigious ‘Recent Australian Sculpture’ exhibition, which toured all capital cities during 1964-65. Luke exhibited widely in subsequent years in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Mildura.
