Born in Victoria in 1876, Ambrose Dyson was a brother of Will Dyson. A cartoonist and illustrator, he studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne.

The earliest auction listing we have for Amby Dyson is in 1981 and in total 10 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 8 (80%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,400 for Mother and Child Alighting from a Train, 1949. Unfinished Composition Verso: Woman in Interior sold by Sotheby's in November 1991. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021.
