Born in South Australia in 1933, Marie Hobbs was awarded a Diploma of Social Science from the University of Adelaide in 1954 and also studied at the Southampton School of Fine Arts, United Kingdom in 1973, the Claremont School of Art, Western Australia in 1974 and the Byam School of Art, London, United Kingdom in 1981. She first exhibited her paintings in Perth in 1974 and since then has continued exhibiting to 2019, mainly in Perth and Western Australian regional centres.
