Born in Katoomba, New South Wales in 1900, Pratt worked as jackeroo, broker and surveyor before studying at the Royal Art Society School in the late 1920s. Well known as a painter and printmaker, he exhibited with the Royal Art Society, Sydney and the Australian Painter-Etchers Society and was a member of the Commonwealth Art Advisory Board from 1953 to 1972. His works are represented in the print collections of most state galleries.
