Margot Knox (nee Edwards) was born in 1931 in Melbourne. After leaving school she worked in various fields including at the Boyd Pottery at Murrumbeena and later studied art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She moved to Eltham, making friends at the Artists' Colony where she met Alistair Knox, designer, builder and ecologist, and they moved in together, and later married. Margot Knox started painting seriously in the mid 1950s. and in the early 1960s had her first exhibition at The Australian Galleries in Collingwood followed by another at the Princess Hill Gallery. After that she exhibited from the Knox House in Eltham. She died from cancer in 2002.
