Born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1867, Isabel Field was the sister of Frances Hodgkins. Taught by her father, W M Hodgkins, she exhibited in Dunedin from 1884 to 1908 and in the 1888-89 Centennial Exhibition in Melbourne. In 1893 she married W. H. Field and settled in Wellington.
The total number of works by Isabel Field offered for sale by auction since 1988 is 38, of which 30 (79%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $17,872 for Hedge & Stream, Canterbury sold by International Art Centre in March 2015. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Isabel Field are held by the Auckland Art Gallery and Christchurch Art Gallery.
