Born in Canterbury in 1915, Juliette Peter studied at Canterbury School of Art in the late 1930s and and worked for the Education department in Wellingon. In the 1950s she travelled to London and studied lithography and ceramics and then took up sculpture and studied ceramics at Hammersmith School of Art returning to New Zealand in 1955. A painter, ceramacist, illustrator and printmaker, she was a founding member of the Thursday Club, Wellington and exhibited in Wellington and Auckland.
