Paji Honeychild Yankarr is an Indigenous Australian artist from the Martu language group, located in the Western Desert region of Australia. She was born around the 1940s and grew up living a traditional nomadic lifestyle with her family. Yankarr began painting in the early 2000s, after being introduced to art by her sister, fellow Martu artist Nora Nungabar. Her work often features bright, bold colors and abstract patterns that reflect the natural environment and cultural traditions of the Martu people. Throughout her career, Yankarr's art has been exhibited widely in Australia and internationally. Her work has been featured in several major exhibitions, including the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. One of Yankarr's most famous works is a painting titled "Kurnu", which depicts the traditional Martu hunting and gathering ground. The painting is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. Yankarr continues to be an influential figure in the Australian art world, and her work is celebrated for its unique and vibrant style, as well as for its reflection of the rich cultural traditions of the Martu people.
