Born in Sydney in 1904, Mervyn Smith studied at Newcastle Technical College and the South Australian School of Arts. An architect and artitist, he is best known as a watercolourist with subjects including landscapes and still lifes. Between 1947 to the late 1980s he held about 22 solo exhibitions, and was included in a number of group exhibitions. He spent his later years in Adelaide.
