About John Barker
A portraitist and watercolourist, John Barker was born in England in 1867. He studied in York and at the South Kensington Art School winning four national awards. He established the Tor Vale Pottery in Devon and later lived and painted in Western Australia where he was a founding member of the Perth Society of Arts.
We have records of art auction sales by John Barker from 1984 and in total 88 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 71 (81%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $27,600 for Mother's Sorrow sold by McKenzies Auctioneers in May 2005. This year one work has been offered for sale.
