Printmaker and sculptor Dean Bowen was born in Maryborough Victoria in 1957. He was awarded Diploma of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMI in 1976, Master of Arts (Printmaking) from Monash University in 1993 and a Ph. D (Extending Printmaking) from Monash University in 1999. He has held over 80 solo exhibitions since 1983 throughout Australia and in Japan, Switzerland and the UK and a similar number of group exhibitions. Prizes awarded include the Maryborough Arts Centre Award in 1978, the Dyason Bequest Grant at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Mornington Peninsula Art Centre (Acquisitive Print) in 1992 ) and the Arts 21, International Export and Touring Program Grant in 1996. He has been commissioned to produce works for public spaces by the City of Melbourne and various regional councils.

We have records of art auction sales by Dean Bowen from 1993 and in total 100 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 79 (79%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $23,400 for Aeroplane Boy 2004 sold by Leonard Joel in September 2014. This year 5 works have been offered for sale.
