Born in Sydney in 1957 Anne Zahalka is a photographer who studied at the East Sydney Technical College, the College of Fine Arts at the University of new South Wales and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. She first exhibited her work in Sydney in 1987 and since then has exhibited throughout Australia and internationally. She has won a number of photographic awards, including the National Photographic Prize in 2007 and the Macarthur Cook Art Prize in 2008. In 2019 Zahalka developed a major exhibition with the Museum of Sydney presenting a history of early commercial street photography.

The earliest auction listing we have for Anne Zahalka is in 2001 and in total 62 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 42 (68%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $27,000 for The Bathers sold by Deutscher and Hackett in July 2021.
