Born in Silverdale near Auckland in about 1864, Trevor Lloyd was a self-taught artist. He illustrated stories for the 'New Zealand Magazine' and sketched for the 'New Zealand Graphic'. In 1903 he was employed by the 'Auckland Weekly News' to draw mostly political cartoons. Lloyd is also known for his drawings of New Zealand flora and fauna made early in his career, and for his etchings of New Zealand bush made in later life.
