Harry Phillips was born in Ballarat, Victoria in 1873. He set up business as a professional postcard and view photographer in Katoomba, NSW in 1908, producing nearly 100 view books around the Blue Mountains, many being souvenirs for royal visits, anniversaries or occasions. He was infatuated with cloud photographs, his most famous being War Clouds which he interpreted as symbolising a world catastrophe. He sent prints of War Clouds to various world leaders.
