Bush was born in Dunedin and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of Art, Otago Polytechnic, in 2004. She then lectured at the school for four years and has been painting full time in her Dunedin studio for the last two years. She was awarded the 2011 Frances Hodgkins Fellowship.
