About Robert F. Young
Born in the UK in 1926, Robert Young served in the British Army from 1944-47 before studying art in Bournemouth and London. He was a Fleet Street illustrator until he left the UK for Australia in 1954. He worked as an illustrator in Melbourne until 1970 when he taught graphics at Caulfield Institute of Technology. He has exhibited in Melbourne, Hobart and Surfers Paradise. From 1983. Robert resided in a disused petrol station in Taggerty, Victoria and made strong and long binding friendships with many locals. Had was an avid fly fisherman and willingly shared his artistic and every other talent with those that would listen.
The earliest auction listing we have for Robert Young is in 1976 and in total 175 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 118 (67%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $5,104 for The Concert sold by Amanda Addams Auctions in March 2009. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
