About Gother Victor Fyers Mann
A grandson of Sir Thomas Mitchell, Mann was born in New South Wales in 1863. He studied in Sydney and was assigned to catalogue the collection of the Art Gallery of NSW. Best known for his watercolour landscapes, he exhibited frequently in Sydney, later becoming director of the Art Gallery of NSW.
The total number of works by Gother Mann offered for sale by auction since 1972 is 125, of which 71 (57%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $13,218 for Milson's Point, Sydney sold by Deutscher~Menzies in March 2002.
