Born in Darwin in the Northern Territory in 1929, Vicki Darken is a self taught artist who portrays the Territory in her landscape paintings. Since the bombing of Darwin during World War II, she lived in Central Australia. Vicki was awarded the Churchill Scholarship to study art overseas in 1968. Her paintings have been presented to the Queen and Princess Anne during their visits to the Northern Territory. Whilst on the scholarship she studied desert art with John Hilton in the United States. She was mentored for many years by Sydney artist Rubery Bennett.
