Born in Melbourne in 1936, William Delafield Cook is the grandson of William Delafield Cook, Senior. He studied at the Caulfield and Royal Melbourne Institutes of Technology and in Europe. A photo-realist painter, he has won numerous awards and exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas. He is represented in the national and several state collections. Among his biggest private collectors are Elton John in Britain and, in Australia, businessman Marc Besen owner of the Tarrawarra Museum of Art, which staged a Delafield Cook survey in 2012. In 2013 he was made a member of the Order of Australia for service to the Arts. In his later years William Delafield Cook and his wife divided their time between Australia and the UK and he had gallery representation in both countries.
