Ninon Phillips was born in Hawthorn, Victoria. She was awarded a scholarship from Maryborough Technical College and after, continued art studies at Melbourne Technical School, and then began a career in textile design with Vida J. Turner, in Melbourne in 1936. At the end of World War II, Ninon returned to the arts, specialising in silk-screen design, textile design, photo tinting, painting and illustration. Later, she became known for floral and botanical art, exhibiting throughout Australia and at Tryon Gallery, in London.
