Born in Melbourne in 1955, Bill Henson studied photography at Prahran College under Athol Shmith and John Cato and held his first exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria at the age of 19. An artist and photographer, he has exhibited his work extensively in Australia and overseas, including at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Venice Biennale.
