Gwen Barringer was born South Australia in 1882 and received her training at the South Australian School of Arts and Crafts. She is known for her watercolour paintings of landscapes and still life. She visited Europe in 1928, and on her return held a successful solo exhibition in Adelaide. She was a council member of the South Australian Society of Arts for over 30 years, and was also well known as a teacher.
