About Sylvia Meek
Sylvia Meek was born in Ohakune in in the North Island of New Zealand in 1927. ,She later moved to Lower Hutt with her family. In the 1990s she worked and studied overseas visiting the USA, France and the UK. She joined the Hutt Art Society, and watercolour became her chosen medium, but she also painted in acrylic. She was elected an Artist Member of the Wellington Society of Watercolour Artists which she retained for 35 years. She won Watercolour New Zealand’s award in 2007.
