Born in Melbourne in 1906, Harry Mitchell was a painter and cartoonist. He studied at Melbourne's Swinburne Technical College, National Gallery of Victoria School and Bell School. Mitchell worked as a cartoonist for the Sun News-Pictorial before retiring to paint full time.

Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 1990.
