Born in Cottesloe, Western Australia in 1905, Riebe studied at the South Australian School of Art and the School of Fine Arts, North Adelaide. Mainly a landscape painter, Anton earned a living from signwriting and commercial art. During World War II he worked in camouflage in Darwin and NE Australia.
We have records of art auction sales by Anton Riebe from 1984 and in total 264 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 177 (67%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,255 for Willunga Beach Towards the Range sold by Elder Fine Art in November 2016. This year one work has been offered for sale.
