Born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1917, Brian Gaston was an architect, draughtsman and watercolourist. He served with the AIF 1943-1946, after which he continued his studies in the UK and Europe until 1948 when he returned to Australia. Gaston exhibited his work with the Royal Art Society, and since 1968 with the Australian Watercolour Institute of which he became President inc1985 and was awarded Life Membership in 1993.cHe exhibited at: Holdsworth Gallery (1987, 1988), Mosman Gallery (1988), Leonard Gallery (1988) and his work is held in institutional and private collections in Australia, Europe and the UK..
