About Jason Benjamin
Born in Melbourne, Jason Benjamin studied at The Stony Brook School and the Pratt Institute in New York City in 1985 and participated in his first joint exhibition the following year in Manhattan. He returned to Melbourne in 1990 and won the Mosman Art Prize in 1993, 1994 and 1996. He is known for his lush landscapes, still lifes and portraits and has been a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize seven times, and won the Packing Room Prize in 2005. he died in 2021 aged 50.
