About William Drew
Born in Melbourne in 1928, Drew studied at the Melbourne Institute of Technology before going overseas in 1963. He lived for a time in Rome, Paris and London and travelled extensively throughout the continent, returning to Australia in 1966 via the Americas. In 1968 he went to Brazil to paint the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro and later to Sienna in Italy, to paint the annual Palio festival. He has had several one-man exhibitions in Australia. William Drew died in 1983, in a car accident on his way to his second residence in Conques ( a small village) near Rodez France.
