About Guy Maestri
Guy Maestri was born in Mudgee, New South Wales, in 1974. He was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in painting at the National Art School (NAS), Sydney, in 2002. In 2002 and 2003 he was Highly Commended in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship exhibition. In 2003 he won the National Art School Paris Studio Award residency and the William Fletcher Fellowship. In 2009 he won the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize, and was a Finalist in 2018 and 2020. He has also been a finalist in the Wynne Prize for landscape painting on six occasions between 2012 and 2020. Known for his landscapes, portraits and still lifes, he has exhibited regularly throughout Australia and in Hong Kong since 2002 in solo and group shows.
