Born in Melbourne in 1919, Warren studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne under George Bell. He later taught art in Melbourne and became an art critic for the 'Sun'. He has been an active member of art associations, and later became principal of an art college in Brisbane. He has exhibited widely in the eastern states and won a number of art awards. His work is represented in some state and regional galleries, as well as Australian and overseas private collections.
