Born in Ballarat in 1884, Isaac Cohen studied at the Ballarat Technical School, then later at National Gallery of Victoria School where he won a travelling scholarship to Europpe. After studying in Paris, he settled in London. Best known as a portrait painter, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and became a member of the Royal Society of Oil Painters. He died in London in 1951.
