Born in Melbourne in 1951, Deborah Russell is a painter, printmaker and illustrator. She studied for a Diploma of Painting at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and at the beaux Art Prtintmaking School in Paris in 1975. She has worked as an illustrator and cartoonist for magazines in Paris, England and Australia. After her return from England in the early 1980s she painted street murals in Sydney and Melbourne and has exhibited widely since her first exhibition in Melbourne in 1981.

The earliest auction listing we have for Deborah Russell is in 1990 and in total 57 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 43 (75%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $15,955 for Angel's Window 1989 sold by Leonard Joel in February 2022.
