Born in Pomerania in 1942, Jorg Schmeisser studied in Germany and participated in several archaeological digs as artist. After travelling extensively, he became a visiting fellow at the Australian National University in Canberra in 1976, and later became lecturer in printmaking at the Canberra School of Art. Schmeisser has exhibited his paintings and etchings extensively overseas, and from 1974 in Australia.
