Born in Newcastle, New South Wales in 1955, John Earle completed a Diploma of Art at Newcastle, Art School in 1978 and post graduate studies in 1980. He also studied in Europe and the USA. A landscape painter and printmaker, he began exhibiting his work in 1980 in Newcastle and since then has had over 30 solo shows in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne and has been in many group exhibitions. His work has been included in the Wynne Prize for landscape painting at the Art Gallery of NSW on 6 occasions.
